Snappy Snap Snap

During my brief trip home a couple weeks ago, I was able to see my sister-in-law one more time before she has her baby. When we come back after Christmas, she'll have a new little boy in her arms! I can't wait to meet him and find out what he is all about. Here's a few from our 2-minute-impromptu -photoshoot for you, Lisa :)

Bit By the Japanese Bug

On Friday and Saturday, Jayson attended a special workshop on Japanese Carpentry. This stuff is pretty awesome... entire houses and structures prepared entirely off-site, set up on site like a giant jigsaw puzzle and held together with nothing more than pressure (no glue, adhesives, bolts, nails, screws... can you imagine??). The instructor, Mike Laine, prepared a slide show of his current work and showed it on Friday night so I got to see a little of it (before I had to keep my little noise-maker in the lobby). Very cool. This is Jayson's new hand-made japanese plane, which he tells me is superior to his others and if he can, he will be buying only handmade japanese carpentry tools from now on. Instead of screwing the blade in to tighten it in place, the plane is tapped VERY lightly with a little hammer, which is what he says "like magic."

I'm so grateful for the opportunities that being up here affords, for taking that great "leap of faith" and leaving our family, and for the blessings that I continually see everyday because of it. Everything has pointed to this place where we are now. Although we don't know where we'll be after this, I feel peace in knowing that we are on track.

Just Because...

I can't help myself.
